Responsibilities included managing the underwriting and ceded reinsurance run-off for commercial lines accounts produced by Managing General Agents. Business was comprised of excess/umbrella, including Fortune 500 companies, professional liability, long haul trucking, and various other liability classes. Performed audit reviews; negotiated commutations with reinsurers; assisted in actuarial reviews, and performed various functions relating to evaluation of Managing General Agents.

1964 - 1984	Vice President - Home Office Underwriting
	Interstate National Corporation

Managed a portfolio of primary and excess, program and non-program, specialty and standard business. Evaluated company's ceded reinsurance needs (treaty and facultative); negotiated directly with reinsurers and intermediaries on annual cessions. Supervised underwriting of 12 offices; conducted underwriting meetings; developed an audit system to function as an education program, and created an instructional guide incorporating underwriting philosophy; supervised Managing General Agents, and developed programs working with agents and reinsurance markets.
